How Translations Conceal the Bible’s Original Meaning

This video from TEDxEast Hampton features Joel Hoffman discussing why the three most used methods for translating the Bible are the worst methods for that purpose.

He also has an article on The Huffington Post which covers some of the same material: Five Ways Your Bible Translation Distorts the Original Meaning of the Text

This comes on the heels of the highly publicized publication of some new Bible translations:

I have checked out the NIV (2011), CEB, and ESV. While they have made strides in readability, each in their own way, I have reservations about recommending them for deeper study over my preferred New Revised Standard Version.
